Julius Prochazka '89
Julius Prochazka was admitted to the Naval Academy from Wisconsin on September 7, 1885 at age 16 years 10 months.
Prior to the publication of the Lucky Bag in 1894, most portraits of officers and midshipmen of the Naval Academy were captured in yearly photo albums. The album for 1889 is available in the collections of the Naval Academy's Digital Collections.

Loss
Julius died on October 10, 1892 of typhoid fever at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital.

From researcher Kathy Franz:
Julius graduated from the Manitowoc High School in June 1885. He read his essay entitled “The Feudal System.”
He was appointed to the Naval Academy by Congressman Rankin.
In June 1889 he was ordered to the Galena. In June 1890, he was detached from the Kearsage and ordered to the Baltimore.
He died at Camp Erben, outpost of Camp Low, Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
He is buried in Wisconsin.
