There is a Thomas Edward O'Brien in the 1955 Lucky Bag; he too entered the Air Force. He retired as a Major in the mid-70s from Travis AFB, though, and was still alive as of the early 1980s. There was another O'Brien in the class of '55, too.

He was killed in a crash of his T-28 in Florida with the 6th Fighter Squadron on December 20, 1963. Unable to find anything else about him, except that he is buried in Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
