If he doubles you, you can't win, and if he bids "Four spades," he's sure to make it. Right! He's a card shark, and besides teaching his roommate bridge, he spent many hours dragging him through math and juice courses. At the same time he forgot his own academic talents in favor of magazines and records that were worn thin years ago. All told, he's a line guy to have around.

The Class of 1942 graduated on December 19, 1941, less than two weeks after the United States entered World War II. The class had previously been scheduled to graduate in February 1942.
Loss
Strud was lost when USS Sims (DD 409) was sunk by Japanese dive bombers on May 7, 1942 in the Battle of the Coral Sea.
He has Arlington National Cemetery. His father was listed as next of kin.
