Leroy Bates '66 - he died while his wife was pregnant. His dad was killed in an a/c accident when he was only 3.

David Lloyd '56 - granddaughter "Becca" is '02

Thomas Boyle, Jr. '66, Arthur Staecker '66, Leroy Bates '66 were all members of Attack Squadron (VA) 122 in 1968. All three men were killed in a six month period.

Craig Taylor '65 - Graduate of San Juan Capistrano HS.

Wendell Switzer, Jr. '53 - brother (non-grad) also killed in Naval Aviation accident. Their dad was VADM Switzer, '21, CO of USS Wasp in WWII.

Brothers who graduated West Point and also KIA:


Joseph Loughlin, Jr. '32: dad KIA in France 9 November 1918.

Brother was KIA in USMC (not a grad): George Philip, Jr. '35. Earned Navy Cross; uncle Lawrence Edge '24 also did so.

John Daub, Jr. '36 lost a brother, 2nd LT USAAC, ~6 months later in plane crash.

Louis Shane, Jr. '26 rescued Admiral Hart ('97) from Manila. Louis Sr. was Hart's classmate and shipmate.

Earle Childs '15 aboard British sub sunk in WWI. Son (grad) was LT in Pacific, lost leg in attack exactly 25 yrs after dad died

Clarence Bronson '10 non grad, KIA in WWI; son also lost (KIA?) in Europe (in WWII) as infantry 2nd LT.
