Life & Loss

Unable to find many details about Joel's life or loss.

In the June 1, 1940 Navy Directory he is listed as "under instruction" at NAS Pensacola. In the April 1, 1941 Navy Directory he is listed as a member of Bombing Squadron (VB) 2 aboard USS Lexington (CV 2).

He is not listed as killed in action; presumably his loss was an aircraft accident while Lexington was attempting to reinforce Wake Island in the days before Christmas, 1941. However, there is no loss of an aircraft recorded for that period from Bombing Squadron (VB) 2 or Lady Lex.

Class of 1935

Joel is one of 56 members of the Class of 1935 in Memorial Hall.
